Since Medical West joined the UAB Health System, the hospital has added many new services. In 2006, the hospital opened a 100,000 square foot medical office building and outpatient Surgery Center. The new Surgery Center houses four operating rooms and two procedure rooms with highly advanced technology. The other four floors are filled with physician offices, a Veterans Administration Clinic and a Dialysis Center. In the fall of 2007, the hospital’s Endoscopy Lab received a complete renovation, with 11 new private pre and post operative rooms, four procedure rooms, new equipment, and a new waiting area. In 2008, the hospital acquired a free standing outpatient imaging center through a joint venture with members of the medical staff. The imaging center provides CT, MRI, and Ultrasound testing with convenient access for outpatients. Medical West also opened a Sleep Lab in 2008, which performs four types of sleep studies including Polysomnogram, CPAP Titration, Split-night study and Multiple Sleep Latency Testing. Most recently, the hospital has added an Advanced Wound Center with two Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers to help patients with hard-to-heal wounds.
